Feeling Rundown? It Might be a Vitamin Deficiency

Are you getting all of the vitamins your body needs to function well? According to a report from the Environmental Working Group (EWG), more than 40 percent of adults have dietary intakes of vitamins A, C, D, and E, as well as calcium and magnesium, below the average recommended amount for their age and gender. If you’re not getting all the right vitamins in the right amounts, the result could be a multitude of side effects including ongoing fatigue.

At Weight No More in Newport Beach, California, Dr. Ahmed offers his patients a cocktail of IV vitamin therapy infusions, helping to ensure that your body has all of the vitamins and micronutrients necessary to optimize your bodily functions and make you feel more energetic.

Vitamin deficiency and fatigue

There are several vitamin deficiencies that can cause fatigue. Of these, the most common are:

Vitamins B12 and B7

Your body needs iron-rich red blood cells to carry oxygen throughout your body. If you are deficient in vitamin B12, you may have trouble producing healthy red blood cells. You can get B12 from eating meat, dairy products, and dark leafy greens, but it can become harder for your body to absorb B12 as you get older, and illnesses like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) can also hamper absorption. Lack of vitamin B7 (biotin) can also cause fatigue, along with dry hair, skin, and nails.

Vitamin D

A deficit of vitamin D can reduce bone and muscle strength. You get vitamin D primarily from sunlight and a few specialized food sources including some types of fish (like tuna and salmon). A lot of foods are vitamin D-fortified as well it's added to staples like milk, orange juice, and breakfast cereals. Lack of vitamin D long-term can increase your risk of osteoporosis.

Vitamin C

Fatigue and bleeding gums indicate a lack of vitamin C. This is one of the easiest vitamins to supplement for in your diet, as almost all fruits (especially citrus) and many vegetables have plenty of vitamin C.

IV vitamin therapy

Dr. Ahmed delivers gentle IV vitamin therapy for rapid supplementation in the relaxing environment at Weight No More. This carefully balanced vitamin treatment is provided through an intravenous drip in your arm, and it only takes a few minutes to set up.

Your personal IV vitamin treatment will be created based on your body’s unique needs and can contain any combination of calcium, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin B complex, vitamin C, or a multivitamin. The cocktail drip takes between 15 and 30 minutes to complete, during which time you can rest comfortably.
